It has been a wonderful journey over these past 43 years, and now it is time for me to move on in some new directions. I have come to know your children almost more than I know my own grandchildren, so it is time to spend more time with them in San Diego, time to play a bit more tennis, and time to take up some art projects that have been tickling the back of my mind for years. As much as I have enjoyed participating with you in the raising of your children, I realize that I no longer have the stamina to keep up the pace, particularly with the numerous changes in insurances and governmental regulations that have added an enormous additional burden to the practice of medicine. I'm afraid that I am simply a dinosaur with my old-fashioned solo practice and live people answering the phone when you call us, and as with the dinosaurs of the past, it is time to hang it up. I wish you and your children all the best in the futures ahead of you.
